The Troysgate Experience

The Experience, Purpose and Objective

The Troysgate Experience is an interactive environment where deadly confict situations are created and demonstrated involving live participants utilizing both handguns and long guns loaded with live ammunition. Troysgate's physical structures are safe and very much like shoot houses where participants are protected by ballistic steel walls. Troysgate's highly and skillfully trained personnel include instructors, safety personnel and role players.

The purpose and object of the Troysgate Experience is to provide the participant with realistic and meaningful deadly confict experiences. The objective is the participant's experience of "real" deadly encounters in a safe and controlled environment. It is important the participant's experiences provide immediate and signifcant impacts that will create long-lasting, emotional effects which will hopefully save their life.

The Circumstances of the Situation Sets the Stage of the Conflict

The correct assessment of every situation is critical. The participant must know what they are dealing with and establish control as quickly as possible. Even in situations that are extremely stressful and potentially violent, control and time can make the difference between peaceful resolution or escalation into deadly engagement.

In the Troysgate Experience there will be the participant and at least one Troysgate role player. If the participant cannot quickly solve the deadly situation or loses control in the heat of the moment, the encounter may escalate into a deadly engagement.

The Determining and Deciding Factors

Experience

Without deadly experiences the participant's mind has no information on how to respond, understand, realize and navigate what they are about to become involved in. The success or failure of the participant ends up being determined by chance or luck. In most cases, an individual's training, skills and abilities just are not enough during their first deadly encounter. That's not to say or imply that training, skills and abilities are unimportant, it's just that experience makes a difference.

Control

The personal benefits of the Troysgate Experience and subsequent experiences provide significant advantages for the participant. What the participant learns is how to apply the knowledge gained during their experiences just like they would learn in real deadly situations. The participant should always be in a position of control which will help them retain their advantage.

The Troysgate Experience helps increase the odds of survival.
  • A Position of Control - the individual that is in control of the situation.
  • A Position of Commitment - the individual that is conciously aware and is alreadly committed to the possibility/probability of deadly engagement.
  • A Position of Self Preservation - the individual that is not or has lost control of the situation that has escalated into deadly engagement where he/she is at the critical stage of human survival.

Just because the participant may have control doesn't mean that they will be able to retain control over the duration of the event. Deadly conflict situations can be very unpredictable where the circumstances and situations can be highly variable and constantly changing. Control of any deadly encounter may change several times before the conflict is over. Control is never a guarantee and the participant can be easily fooled into thinking they are in control only to be taken by complete surprise when they realize they have lost it.

State of Mind

"Having Your Head in the Game"... it’s an important aspect of the participant's ability to perform at their highest/maximum potential and a contributing factor to success. One of the most important aspects of the Troysgate Experience is the impact it has or will have on the participant's "State of Mind." It is very similar to what we want to achieve regarding control. Just like control, “State of Mind” can easily and quickly change during the course of deadly conflict. The Troysgate Experience helps to establish, build, and promote a strong, healthy, resilient and sustainable "State of Mind" that can withstand some of the mental and emotional challenges of deadly conflict, and the adverse consequence of these types of events.

The Troysgate Experience offers participants a realistic environment for managing and dealing with deadly conflict situations using real handguns and live ammunition in a safe controlled setting. The experience enhances the participants' ability to respond effectively to high-stress situations, emphasizing the importance of experience in learning to control deadly conflict situations.

  • Realistic Training Environment: The Experience simulates deadly encounters with participants, instructors and actors using real guns and live ammunition, ensuring safety through ballistic structures and trained personnel.
  • Importance of Control and Experience: Participants learn to assess and control situations swiftly, as their success relies heavily on prior experience rather than training.
  • Mental Preparedness:  The Experience focuses on developing a strong "State of Mind," helping participants learn how to maintain control and build resiliency during unpredictable deadly situations.
